@blaisep Were you thinking that we'd try to answer some of these questions? I realize that technically, "Frequently Asked Questions" does not actually imply answers, but it does seem like it's missing something without them :) The ones you've posed are sort of hard to answer canonically, but we could probably lay out some of the more broadly-accepted answers. For example, "How to install python" seems like it's could easily become an essay, but we could probably identify the most important use cases and give some pointers for them. On the question of editors, probably the best thing would be to present a summary of the popular choices and the reasons why people like them, and where to get them, and let them make their own choices. The simplest answer to the "Should I learn python for FOO?" is probably going to be based on the old quip about python being "the second-best language for everything". In other words, yes, you can do it in python (with some exceptions, like front-end work) and python is probably a reasonable way to get it done. |

Since these frequent questions are often hard to answer succinctly, our best approach might be to link to useful resources that cover them in depth. For some of these, I'm not even sure which are the best resources! |
